•If it's not moving or just moving a little, you are healthy and
have slept well.
• if its moving slowly, you are a bit stressed or tired.
• If its moving continously, you are over stressed and might
have mental problems.
What is stress?
- It can be anything a simple threat to one's pride, not knowing
whether you would pass the quiz or not, or life threatening situations.
- is a feeling of strain & pressure.
-To be stressed is just a normal as it is part and parcel of our
life. Its affects people regardless of age, race and status.
-stress can be categorized as either good or bad. A particular
stress is good if its propels us to perform well in our endeavors
GOOD STRESS
-It helps to bring out the best in us
BAD STRESS
-it hinders us from functioning well
- may result in distress or a condition in which one can no longer responsd to the challenges in life.
Common sources of Stress
Stressor
- A term used to denote those which cause stress. Stressor are
things, events, situations, or thought that bring about stress.
1. Physical appearance : certain changes in the physical features of
an individual such as height, weight, body, figure, skin problems etc.
2. School Academic pressure: in these are the recitation, daily seatwork, exam & graded performance.
3. Family/ Home: changes in Family situations such as separation of
parent conflict w/ parents sibling rivalry & the obligation.
4. Social/peer pressure: - Stress from his/her friends, pressure to cut classes, to smoke, to
experiment w/ alcohol, drugs, bullying or harassment.
5. Loss: loss of loved one's (Family members/relative,friend can create stress),
Seperation from much loved work that can love self-worth, to
socialize or attend to class.
6. Frustration: Failure to reach goals or carry out plan result in stress.
7. Romantic Relationship: Having bf/gf and not having on generente stress among
teenagers. they deal w/ love quarrels, argument, conflict and
disagreement
8. Failure: not knowing what are really wants to be in the future can
be stressful. Unable to attain your wants due to factors
can be stressful.
EFFECT of STRESS
- Common effects of stress can be grouped in 4 classes.
•Physical : increasing of heart-rate, blood pressure, stressed individuals may also; insomia, colds and infections, nervousness, and shaking, and sweaty, palms and feet
• Emotional : - Stressed person may feel bad about themselves & are usually
not in the mood to socialize.
• Cognitive : the thought of stressed individual are filled of worrying. As a
result, they commonly become forgetful and disorganized.
• Behavioral - some stressed people lose apetite while others tend to overeat
Common Coping strategies
1. Problem -focused
This may include, trying to analyze the situation and making
extra effort or working harder to solve the problem
2. Emotion focused
-This approach encompalses concentrating on one's feeling
or emotions brought about the stress instead facing the actual source of stress.
Tips on Coping with stress
1. Engaging in physical act.
2. Doing act that are relaxing.
3. Acquiring social support
4. Getting rest, a sleep.
5. Being realistic.
6. Thinking positively.
7. Learning the art of resilience
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything but every situation by
prayer and petitions w/ thankgiving, present your requests to God. And
the peace of God, which transcend all
understanding, will
guard your hearts and your mind in Christ.
